Sesame English Made in Taiwan (MIT) is an integral broadcast component of the Sesame English package of programming produced by Sesame Workshop. Sesame English MIT is a locally-produced series designed to follow the weekly broadcast of two U.S.-produced Sesame English episodes. Its primary purpose is to review, reinforce and extend the curriculum of the previous two episodes through games, songs and activities. By creating a variety show, Sesame Workshop and TVBS re-invented Sesame English's curriculum in a fresh, new way with children in an active role. Sesame Workshop has created 26 episodes for the format, one episode for every two Sesame English programs.
Sesame English MIT is shot in Taiwan and is hosted by Timothy Chao. The series features kids playing games, singing songs and participating in activities that were designed to feature specific English language components. The program is taped live in front of an audience of children who are at a beginning level of learning English. All of the contestants who play the games are selected from the audience.
This series supports Sesame Workshop's long-standing belief that localized programming is the most powerful way to communicate with a target audience. Sesame English MIT will delight audiences of children and make learning English fun!
Sesame English MIT can be seen every Friday afternoon on TVBS.
