	Tingo Tingo, a young purple, green and orange monster loosely resembling a tiger, has a huge appetite for food, sports and adventure. Musical by nature, he sings and dances -- he's partial to the tango -- and he's multi-lingual! An exchange student visiting the U.S., Tingo speaks every language under the sun, including yours! Tingo has many other talents. He can cook, paint, hit a homerun or make a jumpshot...and he plants a perfectly beautiful garden!		Niki Tingo’s sidekick and best friend is Niki -- a typical American teenager who lives in the basement of her parents’ home. Niki’s smart, savvy and sophisticated one moment, wide-eyed and curious the next. She loves sports, scary movies and books, but music is her passion. In fact, Niki is the lead singer in her own rock band! She introduces Tingo and the audience to English language and American culture.
	Niki's Family Niki’s all-American family consists of her mother and father, her sister Katie and her brother Kevin. Niki’s mother plays a mean saxophone, while her father juggles and Katie loves to dance. Niki’s grandmother and grandfather also visit occasionally. Tingo and Niki sometimes babysit for baby Jake and Niki’s little cousin Jenny.		Niki's Band Niki and her friends Mike, Sam (short for Samantha) and Tom are in a rock band called Children at Play . Niki sings and plays keyboards, Mike plays the drums, Sam the violin, and Tom the guitar. Tingo is a big fan of Children at Play and their unofficial photographer. He has been known to jump onstage and “rock out” with them! He especially likes Mike’s vest, Sam’s scarf, and Tom’s hair. But his favorite, of course, is Niki!
	Elmo Elmo is a small, red, three-and-a-half year old monster. He has boundless energy and imagination, and he laughs easily and often. Enthusiastic, friendly and cheerful, he always wants to be a part of everything that goes on. However, like most three-and-a-half year olds, he sometimes doesn't have the skills or the knowledge to do what he wants, but he doesn't let that stop him. He has a very positive, optimistic view of himself and life. Elmo likes to be tickled.		Cookie Monster Cookie Monster loves cookies. He also loves to eat fruits, vegetables, tables, chairs, etc... He is a shaggy, blue Muppet with "googly eyes," that is, eyes with pupils that twirl around when he moves. Despite his obsession with cookies, Cookie Monster is very good natured and is a good friend to others.
	Bert Bert is Ernie's long suffering best friend and roommate. He has a deep love for things that most people, particularly Ernie, find extremely boring. He collects paperclips and bottlecaps. His favorite food is oatmeal. He loves pigeons so much that he created a dance called, "The Pigeon." Despite his differences with Ernie, the two are very best friends and would be completely lost without each other. Bert wears argyle socks.		Ernie Ernie is a fun-loving and irreverent human boy character who has a permanent grin. Ernie lives with his best friend, Bert. Ernie is quite mischievous and loves playing jokes on his old buddy Bert. Ernie loves his Rubber Ducky, a yellow bath toy with a distinctive squeak. Ernie has been known to play the drums, stick a banana in his ear and keep Bert awake at night talking to him.
	Zoe Zoe, like Elmo, is a high-energy, three-and-a-half year old monster. Her fur is bright orange. Zoe has a distinctive nasal voice and an infectious laugh. Zoe is good friends with Elmo and can often be seen driving her Zoemobile, a wooden go-cart. Zoe usually wears colorful barrettes and a multi-colored necklace.		Oscar the Grouch Oscar is a Grouch who lives in a trashcan. Like other Grouches, Oscar is only happy when he's miserable. He loves trash. He loves foods like sardines with chocolate sauce. He is very close with his pet worm, Slimey, and his girlfriend, Grungetta. Oscar has a pet elephant, Fluffy, who lives in his trashcan. Underneath Oscar's gruff exterior, he has a heart of gold.
